The open-air festival of classical music initiated by the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie (German Chamber Philharmonic) Bremen has become by now a cherished tradition.
One summer weekend long, from Friday to Sunday, Knoops Park in the North of Bremen is turning into a leafy green stage. Visitors from the whole of Germany will make the pilgrimage to the concerts of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, carrying picnic hampers and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. Lovers of classical music, families and fans get together to listen to the choice, summerlike music programme.
The highlights of each year are the Opera Gala on Fridays, the „Tea in Lesmona“ event with musical support and a poetry reading, as well as the Great Concert of the Orchestra, followed by an open-air film showing. The „Summer in Lesmona“ festival got its name from the homonymous epistolary novel and bittersweet romance authored by Marga Berck, which real-life model has taken place 100 years ago in the enchanting park ambience. A film viewing of the novel's screen version will be therefore a must for many longtime fans.
The Sunday is always a family occasion with a musical matinee followed by a family concert.
For the younger visitors , there will be a colourful children's programme, including a musical paperchase, handicrafts and a lively games and exercise programme.
